2014 Pro Bowl Recap: Team Rice on Top

2014-Pro-Bowl-QuintEvents-NFL-On-LocationAloha Stadium was rocked this past weekend with the hype of the first “unconferenced” Pro Bowl! Filled with memorable plays, great defense and an epic comeback by Team Rice, the 2014 Pro Bowl was a success!

If you didn’t see the 2014 Pro Bowl rosters, check them out now>>>

Team Sanders got off to an early start with a 36-yd pass from Andrew Luck connecting with DeSean Jackson for the touchdown. But Team Rice was not down and out. They tied the score at the beginning of the second quarter with an 8-yd pass from Drew Brees to Jimmy Graham. Cam Newton recaptured the lead for Team Sanders with a 1-yd run, but Philip Rivers was able to tie the score going into halftime on a 10-yd pass to Josh Gordon.

With no scores in the third quarter, the pressure was on in the fourth! Team Sanders created a gap with a 12-yd pass from Nick Foles to Jordan Cameron, making the score 21-14 after Justin Tucker’s kick.

In the final minutes, Team Rice tied the game 21-21 on a 20-yd touchdown from Alex Smith to DeMarco Murray. Fullback Mike Tolbert scored on a two-point conversion in the final seconds of the game making the score 22-21, and crowning Team Rice the 2014 Pro Bowl victors!

With teammates competing against teammates, the 2014 Pro Bowl seemed more competitive than in years past, which many believe is due to the “unconferenced” aspect. In fact, this was only the second Pro Bowl with fewer than 50 total points in the last 15 years!

The defense was on point making the game more than just great offense.

Take Me to Hawaii for the 2015 Pro Bowl

5 Things to Bring With Your 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages

pro bowl hawaii quintevents resized 600From palm trees under glorious blue skies and white sandy beaches, to the crystal-clear water, Hawaii is the ultimate vacation destination, especially if you’re attending the 2014 Pro Bowl. Every year the NFL’s most prestigious and sought-after athletes are invited to play in the NFL's version of an all-star game.

So, now that you have your ticket packages to the Pro Bowl, what else should you bring with you to Hawaii?

With airlines charging for extra luggage and enforcing the strict “50 pounds each” weight limit, travelers have to pick and choose the most essential personal items for their journey.

Here is a list of the top 5 things you shouldn’t be without to make your 2014 Pro Bowl adventures the ultimate experience.

5 Things You Should Bring to the 2014 Pro Bowl

  1. Bathing Suit

Bringing a bathing suit to Hawaii is one of the more obvious and smarter things you can do for yourself. With temperatures averaging around 76 °F degrees from January through to April, you’ll definitely be enjoying the water and waves.

  2. Camera

NFL On Location Pro Bowl Hawaii Saturday Night Party Outdoor Setup resized 600

Who doesn’t want to look back, reminisce, share, and “take home” the ultimate Pro Bowl experience? Take pictures/videos at the NFL Official Saturday Night Party with the 2014 Pro Bowl Cheerleaders, the NFL Official Pro Bowl Tailgate Party, all of the beautiful Hawaiian scenery including waterfalls, volcanos and lava, wildlife, and of course, the actual game! All-in-all, bring a camera to document your adventure, you won’t regret it!

  3. Sunglasses and Sunscreen

The sun is one of the main factors why Hawaii is so popular among travelers. It’s always out and always HOT, besides the occasional rain shower. Being sunburnt isn’t something anyone enjoys, along with squinting. Be sure to coat up and rock some stylish shades.

  4. Tennis Shoes

Hawaii is the only U.S state that is made up entirely of islands, which were mostly formed from volcanos. Lava hiking, 4-wheeling, and cliff jumping are a few of the most popular attractions Hawaii has to offer. Tennis shoes are crucial for all aspects of your vacation.

  5. Favorite Player’s Jersey

At the start of the 2014 New Year, the teams will not be based on the two conferences, and will now be chosen by two team captains (Jerry Rice & Deon Sanders) four days prior to the game. It will be tough to show your alliance to your favorite team, especially if they face off against each other in the new "Unconferenced" format. So, pick your favorite player, wear their jersey, and cheer them on as they battle it out in Hawaii.

3 Pro Bowl Hotel Perks Which Make you Look Like a Genius

Congratulations, you’re planning an EPIC trip to the 2014 Pro Bowl, which is likely making you everyone’s favorite person right now. There’s a lot that goes into planning: getting tickets, figuring out transportation, deciding where to stay, what to eat, coming up with a game plan to get into those exclusive after parties and tailgates, etc.

Luckily NFL On Location can take planning off your plate, or at the very least, help you make a decision on where to stay! As part of the Official 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages, NFL On Location has bundled tickets to Pro Bowl events, accommodations at the Official Pro Bowl Hotel, Sheraton Waikiki, behind-the-scenes access to various parties and other exclusive events, interactive experiences, transportation and much more.

Here are three Pro Bowl hotel perks that will give you the best 2014 Pro Bowl experience AND make you look like a genius.

1. Stay at the Official Pro Bowl Hotel

An unbelievable perk associated with staying at the Sheraton Waikiki, is that it is the headquarters for the event. This means that you may have the opportunity to see appearances by NFL Cheerleaders, Mascots and more throughout Pro Bowl Weekend. You’ll also be able to access the Official NFL Merchandise Store to score amazing memorabilia (and take some back for envious family and friends!)

NFL Cheerleaders

One of the most convenient aspects of staying at Pro Bowl headquarters is the access you’ll have to the on-site NFL On Location Office. What does that mean for you? If you have any questions about tickets, where to go for a particular party or event, or any other aspect of your Pro Bowl experience, you can speak with someone face-to-face to get immediate assistance.

2. Proximity to Events

A second benefit to staying at the Sheraton Waikiki is that you will be right in the action. Your accommodations are just five minutes away from the Royal Hawaiian where the NFL Official Saturday Night Party will take place. This means that you can walk over or take the short drive to the Royal Hawaiian, and leave the party to return to the quiet and comfort of your own room whenever you’ve had your fill of fun!

NFL On Location NFL Pro Bowl 2014 All Star Pro Bowl Block Party View from Above at Night

The Sheraton Waikiki is located on the world-famous Waikiki Beach and has been awarded the Pinnacle Award multiple times, making it one of the best hotels on the island. The Sheraton is also on the same street as the Pro Bowl Block Party, which takes on Saturday Night from 7-10pm. You know what they always say, “Location, Location, Location!”

3. Transportation at Your Service

A huge third benefit is the convenience of having transportation. The Sheraton Waikiki is the official pick-up and drop-off spot for your trip’s transportation services. This means you don’t have to drive to a secondary location to get picked up, or walk to another hotel—transportation is at your service!

With the Sheraton Waikiki’s transportation you’ll save money on rental cars, and time from having to wait in annoying traffic or long car rental lines. Additionally, with transportation taken care of you don’t have to worry about being too tired or indulging too much as you’ll have a transport to take you directly from your hotel to all the events and right back again!

NFL On Location: The Only Way to Go

So now you know that the Sheraton Waikiki is the hotel with the best perks and essentially the only place you’ll want to stay in Hawaii. But why bother with trying to package hotel, transportation, tickets and the itinerary yourself? Let NFL On Location help you!

With Official 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages, NFL On Location has bundled the best and most exclusive events, direct and guaranteed tickets to the Pro Bowl, transportation, accommodations and tons of VIP extras that you won’t be able to get on your own. Attend all of the Official events and save money with these bundled packages.

Will you be at the 2014 Pro Bowl? Which event are you most looking forward to?

Doing Transportation to the 2014 Pro Bowl the Right Way

My how the time has flown. It seems like just yesterday we were gearing up for the very first game of the season. Now, there are exactly five weeks of regular season football left! (Not to worry, we’ve still got several weeks of playoff football to come.)

However, if even the thought of the playoff football can’t remedy your near-end of the season blues maybe a trip to Hawaii and the 2014 Pro Bowl might! Beautiful weather, a gorgeous destination and some of the NFL’s best of the best competing in the FIRST EVER “unconferenced” Pro Bowl might just be the cure.

NFL On Location Pro Bowl Hawaii

Planning a vacation can be overwhelming but NFL On Location makes it easy with their Official
2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages. Packages include anything and everything you can think of to make your trip to Hawaii seamless and memorable.

One of the biggest pluses is that ALL of your transportation is taken care of. And you know what that means…

Ditch the Rental Car

That’s right, NFL On Location Official 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages give you not only your ticket to the game, but accommodations, behind the scenes access, entrance to the most exclusive parties and more. BUT it also takes care of all your transportation needs!

• Need transportation to and from the airport? MVP Packages have that covered!
• Need to get to the game and Ohana Day? Check!
• Going to the Saturday Night Party? It’s within walking distance from the Sheraton Waikiki!

With all of these transportation arrangements already covered by your Official 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Package you’ll have more time to map out full days of fun in Hawaii. There are also two HUGE bonuses of having transportation already taken care of:

1. Savings: Time and Money

Many times, when traveling out of town, a rental car is a necessity. You can’t go anywhere in your new surroundings without one. However, with the large influx of regular visitors, as well as NFL fans, that will be descending upon Hawaii during the 2014 Pro Bowl you can bet that the lines and wait to get your car won’t be a quick in and out.

“I can’t wait to go pay out of my nose for this rental car!”-said no one ever.

Additionally, car rentals can run you between $100 - $125 a day! With the savings you’ll accrue from taking advantage of the bundled transportation in your NFL On Location Official Pro Bowl Ticket Packages you can use that money for additional sight seeing or activities to really get the most out of your 2014 Pro Bowl trip to Hawaii.

2. Safety

One of the best parts of going with the NFL to Hawaii is entry to amazing and exclusive parties with access to players, cheerleaders, activities and tons of gourmet food and drink.

NFL On Location Pro Bowl Hawaii

Typically, if you were driving your rental car you would choose a designated driver, arrange a cab or take some other measure to ensure that no one indulges too much or is too tired and jeopardizes the safety of everyone by driving. With provided transportation, you don’t have to worry about it! You can stay out late or indulge yourself without feeling guilty about the drive back.

How Can I Go to the 2014 Pro Bowl in Hawaii?

It’s a lot easier than you think! NFL On Location makes it easier than ever to connect fans with the action.

With Official 2014 Pro Bowl Ticket Packages you can bundle your direct-from-the-NFL ticket to the game, access to a VIP practice session, entry to exclusive and official NFL parties, accommodations, souvenirs, on-site staff, transportation (of course) and much more.

Trying to piece together these packages on your own is a headache, but NFL On Location has got you covered. What are you most looking forward to during your visit to the 2014 Pro Bowl in Hawaii?

2014 Pro Bowl Voting Open

The polls are open and the voting has begun!

NFL On Location Pro Bowl 2014 Ballot Now OpenedYou can now begin voting on your favorite NFL players to compete in the 2014 Pro Bowl on Jan. 26. With balloting staying open until Dec. 26, you have a little time to cast your vote. However, with the Pro Bowl being “unconferenced” for the first time, meaning no AFC or NFC teams, there are a few changes to the process.

Once all the votes are cast, the four players (two offensive and two defensive players) with the highest amounts of votes will become captains. They will then be joined by two NFL.com fantasy football champions to draft the remaining players for their teams, but not before they bring in the big guns.

Pro Football Hall of Famers, Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders, are brought in to help the team captains and Fantasy Football champions draft their teams.

The consensus votes of the coaches, players and fans are what determine the 2014 Pro Bowl players. The combined votes of each group determine the 88 All-Star players eligible to compete in the game. However, the NFL players and coaches cannot vote until Dec. 23.

The unique thing about this voting process is that the NFL is the only sports league to combine votes between fans, players and coaches!

The 2014 Pro Bowl:Unconferenced is a match you do not want to miss! With teammates playing teammates, this can be anyone’s game!

NFL Fantasy Football: Week 4 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em

Week 4 of the NFL season brings the unofficial start of trading for Fantasy Football owners. With bye weeks, injuries, and most major producing players scooped off of waiver wires and trades, strategically deciding who will be in your starting lineup is going to take some real effort!

That said we hope that you’ll consider our advice when you decide who to start and who to keep on your bench this week. Good luck in Week 4!

Start ‘Em

Bilal Powell, RB New York Jets

During Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Chris Ivory was injured and is going to be out for an extended period of time. That said Powell was able to step in and go off against the Bills. The Jets will be facing a Tennessee defense that has allowed, on average, 100 rushing yards in the last 3 games played, with this favorable matchup look for Powell to have a solid game.

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB Indianapolis Colts

Ahmad Bradshaw Touchdown

His stock is on the rise. After a shaky Week 1 start, Bradshaw has had a touchdown the last two weeks and looks poised for a big performance against a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that is giving up the 8th most fantasy points in the league.

Denver Broncos WRs

Peyton Manning has never looked better, and he’s spreading the ball around. If you have Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas or Eric Decker be sure to start them against a shaky Philadelphia defense. The Eagles have allowed 1,021 passing yards into Week 4, an average of 340 per game.

Denarious Moore, WR Oakland Raiders

Denarious Moore Touchdown

Despite the loss to the Broncos on Monday Night, Moore should be a fantasy stud this week. The Raiders will be hosting a Washington Redskins defense that is giving up the most yards to wideouts in the league.

Sit ‘Em

David Wilson, RB New York Giants

Unfortunately for the Giants faithful, it looks like David Wilson and the Giants running game is done. Unless Da’Rel Scott or Brandon Jacobs can step up it would be a hard sell to start any Giants RBs. They New York Giants will be facing a 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs team at home. Sit ‘em.

Le'Veon Bell, RB Pittsburgh Steelers

Le'Veon Bell

While the Steelers have said that Bell is cleared to play, even if he starts he will likely be sharing touches with Felix Jones, Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Also, Bell is a rookie and will need time to adjust for coming off of an injury and the Steelers style of play. Keep him on your bench for Week 4.

As far as fantasy goes, most of the elite QBs are throwing to win games, so don’t worry if your RBs are subpar, make some trades and strategic moves and you should be in a good shape for Week 4.

The Ultimate Fantasy Football Experience: NFL Pro Bowl

Is it too early to talk about the candidates for this year’s All-Pro team? We didn’t think so either! We’ve already seen some players put up record numbers and witnessed some remarkable performances. NFL Fantasy Football: Week 2 Recap and Week 3 Hot Picks

Week 2 Recap

nfl fantasy football the league resized 600Congratulations to everyone out there who has started their NFL Fantasy Football season at 2-0, you’re in good company as 25% of (real) NFL teams are currently holding the same record. For those of you who managed a 0-2 start, you’re in league with about 21% of NFL teams, but never fear. THE SEASON IS YOUNG!

If you didn’t let first week jitters scare you and started James Jones, Marshawn Lynch, Dez Bryant and Mike Wallace, your fantasy team probably won this week. (Just a little advice, don’t let one bad week scare you off!) Similarly if someone’s hot one week, there’s no guarantee that they will perform as well two times in a row. But that’s the beauty of fantasy, trying to predict who will rise and who will have an off week.

With that in mind, here are our Week 3 top waiver wire pickups.

Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups

nfl fantasy football philip rivers resized 600Phillip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers

Rivers is owned in 41% of leagues, if he’s available and your starting QB is off to a shaky start, he might be a worthwhile pickup. Historically Rivers struggles in October and November with a 3-12 record from the 2011 and 2012 seasons. If his September numbers follow history (5-2) he should have a solid month.

Eddie Royal WR, San Diego Chargers

Royal is owned in 23% of leagues, and after 2 games is the #3 overall fantasy WR. With Malcolm Floyd out indefinitely look for Royal to have a bigger role and continue to be a high producer for the Chargers. He is worth picking up against the Tennessee titans whose secondary gave up over 100 yards and a TD to Andre Hopkins and over 75 yards to Andre Johnson in Week 2.

nfl fantasy football Marlon Brown Ravens resized 600

Marlon Brown WR, Baltimore Ravens

He’s connected with Joe Flacco for a touchdownin each of the first two games and is owned in about 26% of Fantasy Football leagues.

He might be a long shot, however if you’re struggling at wideout, consider him among the top of the list to help you in Week 3.

Knowshon Moreno RB, Denver Broncos

He’s solidified himself as the Broncos starting RB and is still available in about 43% of leagues. In Week 3 he’s up against an Oakland Raiders defense that has been effective against stopping the run. Consider him a flex option for this week, but get him on your team to help out in upcoming weeks.

nfl fantasy football minnesota vikings defense resized 600Kansas City Chiefs OR Minnesota Vikings DST

So we don’t normally talk about pickups for defenses and special teams, but I’ll make an exception for the Chiefs and Vikings. The Chiefs D looked solid against both opponents this year and if they stay fired up they may come out as one of the top defenses this year.

The Vikings D got off to a shaky start but kicked it into high gear against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. They will be playing the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, who are struggling offensively. If you need a couple extra points to put you ahead of your opponent look to pick up this Vikings defense.

Before and After: Understanding the Changes to the NFL Pro Bowl

nfl pro bowl 2014 quintevents resized 600As you've probably heard, the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl will feature several format changes tailored to add to the excitement of the NFL's All-Star Game.

Proposed by NFLPA President Domonique Foxworth, the changes are designed to make the Pro Bowl the ultimate fan-friendly celebration and to drastically change the matchup style that has been in existence since 1971.

But how drastic are these changes and how will they vary from the current format?

To answer that question, we've compiled a list of the proposed changes and did a before/after comparison of new Pro Bowl format. Enjoy!

be selected from the AFC and
NFC in voting by fans, coaches
and players.
Players will be selected without
regard to conference in voting by
fans, coaches and players.
2-Minute
Warning
Two-minute warnings occur at the
end of the 2nd and 4th quarters.
Team with the possession after
each quarter will retain
possession at the beginning of
the next quarter with the exception
for halftime.
A two-minute warning will be added
to the first and third quarters and
the ball will change hands after
each quarter.
Kickoffs  Kickoffs Allowed: Coin toss
determines which side has the
choice to receive or kickoff.
Kickoffs occur to start the game,
after each scoring play, and to
begin the third quarter.
No Kickoffs: The coin toss will
determine which team is awarded
possession first. The ball will be
placed on the 25-yard line at the
start of each quarter and after
scoring plays.
Rosters  Rosters consist of 43 players per
squad, including a kick return
specialist determined by voters.
The rosters will continue to consist
of 43 players per squad. The kick
return specialist will be replaced
by an additional defensive back.
Defense  Only “man” coverage is permitted,
except for goal-line situations
where zone coverage could
be played.
The defense will be permitted to
play "cover two" and "press"
coverage.
Play Clock  40-second/25-second  35-second/25-second
Game Clock  Game clock stops under the
following circumstances: an
incomplete pass, player runs the
ball out of bounds, a timeout is
called, or if the quarterback spikes
the football. Game clock will
continue to run if a completed
play stays within bounds
regardless of yardage gained
or lost.
Beginning at the two-minute mark
of every quarter, if the offense does
not gain at least one yard, the clock
will stop as if the play were an
incomplete pass. This rule will make
the team with the ball attempt to gain
yardage toward the end of each quarter.
Game Clock  The game clock stops upon a
signal by an official when a forward
pass is incomplete. This rule is
consistent throughout the game.
The game clock will start after an
incomplete pass on the signal of the
referee, except inside the last two
minutes of the first half and the last
five minutes of the second half.
Game Clock:
Sacks
The game clock stops on a
quarterback sack outside of two
minutes of the second and
fourth quarters.
The game clock will not stop on
quarterback sacks outside of the
final two minutes of the game.

Get a Little Help from NFL Legends

In addition to the format changes list above, the two rosters will be determined based on the Pro Bowl player draft. Closely resembling captain pick’em, the two leading vote getters will join two NFL.com fantasy football champions to draft players.

Helping these players and fantasy football champions will be Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders. Similar to a playground pick-em, players will be selected one-by-one until the two rosters are complete.

For the first time since the Pro Bowl's inception, the rosters will feature a combination of AFC and NFC players. Players can earn a spot in the Pro Bowl by being in the top of their respected position voting as there will no longer be a regard to equal numbers from each conference.

Big Changes Coming to the 2014 Pro Bowl

Albert Einstein's quote probably had nothing to do with football, but it can be implied to all things including the recent news of big changes to the NFL’s All-Star Game.

The NFL Pro Bowl will feature some exciting changes in 2014, including a new format based on changes proposed by NFLPA President Domonique Foxworth. The changes are designed to make the Pro Bowl the ultimate fan-friendly celebration of the top NFL All-Stars for the given year.

The game will no longer feature an AFC vs. NFC match-up that has existed since 1971. Instead, Pro Bowl players will be selected without regard to conference in voting by players, coaches, and fans. The game will not feature equal representation from each conference and will only feature the highest voted players.

For example, the top six wide receivers following the fans, players, and coaches voting will earn a spot in the Pro Bowl, regardless of how many are from AFC or NFC teams. In essence, the Pro Bowl could potentially feature all NFC or AFC players (although unlikely) based on how the votes fall.

Playground Pick’em

2014 pro bowl format nfl on location resized 600Rosters will be determined based on the Pro Bowl player draft. Closely resembling a playground, captain pick’em, the two leading vote getters will join two NFL.com fantasy football champions to draft players.

Helping the fantasy football champions and leading vote getters will be Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders. A well played fantasy season and a little bit of luck will give two fantasy football stars the chance to determine the 2014 Pro Bowl Rosters! What an amazing experience for Fantasy Football players.

The Pro Bowl player draft will take place on January 22, 2014, just four days before the 2014 Pro Bowl. Coaches, who are determined from the losing teams in the AFC and NFC Divisional playoffs with the best regular-season records, will have the opportunity to practice with their teams for three days before kickoff on January 26.

Change is a Coming

In addition to the selection format, the game itself will have several new rules. Here are several new Pro Bowl changes that will take place in 2014:

  • Game Within the Game – A two minute warning will be added to the 1st and 3rd quarters and the ball will change hands after each quarter. The NFL believes this will increase the opportunities for teams to run two-minute drills, which will increase the excitement level for the fans.
  • No Kickoffs – That’s right! A coin toss will help determine possession at the beginning of the game. The ball will be placed on the 25-yard line at the start of each quarter and after scoring plays.
  • Rosters – Rosters will continue to consist of 43 players per squad, but the kick return specialist will be replaced by an additional defensive back
  • Cover Two and Press Coverage – The defense will be permitted to play cover two and press coverage.
  • Stopping of the Game Clock – Beginning at the two-minute warning of each quarter, if the offense does not gain at least one yard, the clock will stop.
  • Game Timing – The game clock will start after an incomplete pass, except inside the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half.
  • Play Clock – A 35-second/25-second clock will be used instead of the 40-second/25-second clock.
  • Sacks – The game clock will not stop on quarterback sacks outside of the final two minutes of the game.
