    By Jazzy Morgan

The Masters Tournament® has a long-lived legacy as one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. Starting back in 1934 and progressing on today, Augusta National® has seen many champions walk onto its course.

These Green Jacket Champions are nothing short of legendary and as we count down to The Masters® 2018, we will uncover the story behind them all.

    Take Me to The Masters!

    Art Wall Jr.

Born in Pennsylvania, Wall took his passion for the game of golf to North Carolina to play collegiately at Duke University, where he also studied business. Throughout his professional career, Wall won fourteen titles on the PGA Tour, four of which he won in 1959 alone! During that year he was chosen as the PGA’s Player of the Year and the Vardon Trophy for obtaining the lowest scoring average. At the age of 51, Wall won the Greater Milwaukee Open, making him the oldest player at that time to have won at tournament on tour.

The Miracle at The Masters®, 1959

During The Masters Golf Tournament® in 1959, Art Wall Jr. shot a final round score of 66. He hit birdies on five of the last six holes, which led him to his first and only major championship title. Wall began the final round of The Masters® six strokes behind the leaders with a projection to finish in thirteenth place. He won the 1959 Masters in dramatic fashion during these final moments of the tournament.
