College Football National Championship StadiumI think it's safe to say that many of us are confused about the new College Football Playoff format that is coming in the 2014-2015 season! But instead of being frightened, we should be informed and embrace the change that is coming!

Take a look at these frequently asked questions on how the College Football Playoff will function:

Q: How are the teams selected to go to the College Football Playoff?

A: This system is in place to ensure that every game counts. The Selection Committee will rank the top 25 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and then work to seed the top four. These top four teams will be selected by by reviewing game tapes, the strength of schedule, head-to-head results and points-comparison to opponents, to name a few.

Q: Will the decision be made in public?

A: The Selection Committee aims to be as transparent as possible while retaining the ability to deliberate privately among themselves. When the procedure is finalized, it will be made public.

Q: Will the deliberations take place throughout the regular season?

A: The Selection Committee will meet throughout the regular season. Later in the fall, the Selection Committee plans to release weekly rankings so teams and fans can see where they currently stand.

Q: When will the final selection process take place?

A: Dec. 6-7 will be the first selection weekend, shortly following the final weekend of the season (Dec. 6).

Q: Who is on the Selection Committee?

A: The Selection Committee is comprised of high-integrity individuals with tremendous experience such as coaches, student-athletes, journalists, sitting athletic directors and collegiate administrators. 

Q: What bowl games are the semi-final games this year?

A: The Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl will be the 2014-2015 season semi-final games.

Q: Why do they rotate the bowl games that become the semi-final games?

A: Spreading the semi-final games across different locations each year allows more fans to experience the College Football Playoff.

Q: When will the College Football Playoff games be held?

A: The two semi-final games and the other bowl games will be played as back-to-back triple headers on New Year’s Eve and New Years Day.

Q: When will the College Football Playoff National Championship be played?

A: The College Football Playoff National Championship will be played on the first Monday night of the New Year following New Years Day.
