It's that time of the week again - time to plan your starting line-up for Week 4 of Fantasy Football! And let's face it, planning your starting line-up is no easy feat. We all have some seasoned players on our roster who we start week after week just to have them fall short of expectations while the rookie on our bench is securing all our points. Sigh.
So what do you do when it comes time to set your roster? You hit the interwebs! There's no way you're going to pass up on the opportunity to put your FF team's best foot forward and you need to do your homework (you want to be the one smack talking in your league, right?).
But instead of you having to click around through 10 different sites to check out the stats trying to decide whether you should start Tom Brady or Jay Cutler (my weekly dilemma), we've compiled the information for you!
So without further ado, we give you Fantasy Football Week 4: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em! We did your research and these are the players we believe should be playing the field and playing the bench.
Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears
With 58 FF points only three weeks into the season, Jay Cutler needs to be on your starting roster. His points list him fourth among QBs and most impressive, he's thrown eight TDs and a measely two interceptions. Also, having Alshon Jeffrey, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, and Martellus Bennett as wide-outs on the Bears roster helps his case.
This week, Chicago is up against Green Bay, who's defense gave up 17 fantasy points last week. If Cutler keeps his performance level high, this should be a great week to rack up some points!
Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina Panthers
Kelvin Benjamin has found himself ranked sixth in the wide receiver rankings with 36 FF points in the first three weeks! This week, this rookie is up against the Ravens defense, who have given up 23 FF points to receivers each week.
With that being said, Benjamin had been on the receiving end of Derek Anderson for his TD receptions this year with Cam Newton out, but Newton returned and still found him seven times for 80 yards last week. If Benjamin is riding your bench right now, it's time to bump him up because he's going to have plenty of opportunities to produce points.
San Diego Chargers Defense
Okay, don't count our advice out just yet - hold on a minute. Yes, the Chargers might not have the most fabulous defense, but they are going up against Jacksonville this week. The Jaguars offense has not even been close to touching their projected points, coming up around 35 points below expectation in the past three weeks. This means they've only averaged about 12 points per game.
All of this adds up to good things for the Chargers defense. If you have them, start 'em!
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
While things have been looking good for Dallas ultimately - more running and less pressure on Tony Romo - this has hurt the FF points the QB brings in. Comparatively, the Cowboys are third in the NFL for rushing yards with 156.7 yards per game, but they find themselves at 24th through the air with 206.7 yards per game. In addition, Dallas has run the ball 95 times compared to attempting 89 passes.
With this new strategy, Romo has only been bringing in about 15 FF points per game. And let's face it, 15 FF points a game from your QB isn't going to help you win your league. Turn this Cowboy out to the pasture.
Tom Brady, New England Patriots
I know I briefly touched on my own Brady woes earlier in this article, but this QB truly is a problem for a lot of fantasy teams so far this season! Brady hasn't even been close to touching his projected points in the first three weeks and his 12.5 FF points in Week 3 has been his peak so far.
The Patriots are a fairly run-heavy team on top of it all and Brady is just not contributing to fantasy teams the way he used to. It might be early to go as far as dropping him from your roster, but definitely make the move to sit him until we see where his playing goes.
Joique Bell, Detroit Lions
This call wasn't made based on Joique Bell's performance the last three weeks, but instead on who Detroit is playing. This week the Lions are up against the New York Jets. The Jets' defense has proven steady in holding off RBs the past few weeks and we don't see things looking any different come Week 4. Seriously though, New York is only giving up 5.3 FF points per week to RBs!
With that being said, Bell is going to take a serious hit in points this week so look to your red shirts to help out. Sit 'em!
