Holy Week 5, batman! Who would have thought the NFL season would have gone how it has so far. The San Diego Chargers hold one of the three best records in the league so far with a four game winning streak, Tom Brady finally appeared against the Bengals last week and bye weeks are in full force!
The 2014 NFL season sure hasn't disappointed thus far with surprises and we're seeing those shockers pop up all over our Fantasy Football line-ups. As we're racing into Week 6 now, it's time to set those line-ups which means taking a look at who has been performing consistently, who has had their moments and who just needs to bounce.
Take a look at the players I suggest starting in Week 6, and if you don't have them, do what you can in your power to grab them off the waiver-wire! Then, take a look at the players I suggest red shirting.
PUT ME IN, COACH!
Eli Manning, New York Giants: 23 Projected Points
Holding ninth in the QB rankings with 20 points under his belt last week against Atlanta, Eli Manning has been consistent. He's now scored at least 19 points in each game for the past four weeks and this week, he's facing a broken Philadelphia defense.
The Eagles defense has allowed every QB to throw not one, not two, but multiple touchdowns, and with Manning gaining a new target I like to call Odell Beckham, I predict pretty things to happen for NY.
If you have the younger Manning, put him in!
Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks: 24 Projected Points
He might be ranked seventh in the QB standings right now, but watch out for Mr. Wilson! He doesn't know inconsistency and in Week 5, he reached a season-high of 38 FF points! Wilson's only thrown one interception this year and, boy, has he been running! He's rushed at least 29 yards in three of four games for the Seahawks.
Wilson does great playing at home in Seattle and in Week 6 they're hosting Dallas. The Cowboys have given up multiple TDs in three of their five games this season and it's a great opportunity for Wilson to capitalize on some points. Start 'em!
Matt Forte, Chicago Bears: 18 Projected Points
Forte is an incredibly multidimensional player and that is going to play into his favor this week against the Falcons. Atlanta has given up nine rushing TDs in every game of the season so far. Not to mention, the Falcons have also given up the fifth most receptions and the fourth most receiving yards to running backs.
This Chicago RB is known for finding gaping holes in the defense and I predict that's exactly what he's going to do in Week 6. Put in Forte!
Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 14 Projected Points
Although Jackson missed practice on Wednesday due to injured ribs, we've been given no impression the Buccs won't be starting him. Since the Tampa Bay QBs were swapped in Week 3, Jackson has had two TDs and he hit 100-yards in Week 5.
He faces Baltimore's defense this week and they've been kind to receivers, giving up at least 90 receiving yards or a TD. Start Jackson!
SIT 'EM DOWN!
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys: 19 Projected Points
Even though Romo's PJP are still high, this Cowboy faces a hard-hitting Seahawks defense this week. QBs tend to struggle in Seattle, including veteran QBs such as Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was held to 189 passing yards, only one TD and one interception when he met the Seahawks, and last time Romo met the 'Hawks in Seattle, he was held to only 14 FF points.
Even though Dallas has been looking good and Romo has been paving the way, Romo isn't going to lead your FF team this week. Sit 'em!
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions: 19 Projected Points
Okay, okay, don't shake your head at me on this one. Stafford is good... when he has Calvin Johnson. The two are unbeatable together, but without Johnson, Stafford is just a QB; he's no superman. In the past couple weeks, Stafford has seen three FF points against the Packers, 29 points against the Jets and 12 points against the Bills.
Now with Johnson riding the injured list, I'm not expecting to see much out of Stafford. Sit this Lion until his other half returns.
Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins: 9 Projected Points
Morris saw some hardships in Seattle last week and I expect those to continue into Arizona. With only 13 carries for 29 yards and one catch for minus two yards against the Seahawks, Morris brought in a measely 2 FF points in Week 5.
In his past six road games (going into last season), Morris hasn't scored and even though the Cardinals have allowed three TDs to opposing RBs, none of them have gained more than 65 rushing yards. This will be a good week to rest Morris.
DeSean Jackson, Washington Redskins: 9 Projected Points
Are you seeing a common theme? Although Jackson performed well against Seattle last week securing 21 FF points with five catches for 157 yards and a TD, there's bad blood between him and the Cardinals.
Although there is a slight chance Patrick Peterson might be sidelined due to injury, we expect him to start, and he's caused hell for Jackson in past games. In two meetings in each of the past two seasons, Jackson was contained to only six catches for 79 yards with no TDs.
I predict Jackson will be a bust this week. Sit 'em!
