Read on to learn more about the Gridiron Glory and learn how you can see it!
The Beginning of the Glory
In 2013, after years of being in the works, the Pro Football Hall of Fame followed through with the idea of creating a 5,000 square foot exhibit in celebration its 50th anniversary.
The exhibit marked the Hall of Fame’s largest traveling exhibit to date. After considering the creation of a traveling exhibit for a number of years, the exhibit finally came to fruition as the landmark anniversary came closer.
Once the Pro Football Hall of Fame was able to partner with Gallo, a sports marketing company headquartered in Cleveland, the project took form.
Over the last several years, the exhibit has worked to reach out and engage with NFL fans across the United States.
Pieces of History
Gridiron Glory is meant to tell a story, as well as give fans a way to engage with the sport’s history. Offering over 200 artifacts from the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s own collection, the exhibit houses the entire essence of the NFL in one venue.
Featuring the best football memorabilia, a fan can find all sorts of forgotten pieces of NFL history while sauntering through the traveling exhibit. Guests can participate in interactive, hands-on experiences, as well.
Football faithfuls can do everything from try on the leather helmet Notre Dame icon Knute Rockne wore to testing their vertical leaping ability. Many of the artifacts featured in Gridiron Glory are exclusive to it. Until the exhibit began, many of the items were never before shown to the public.
The exhibit gives people a chance to go back in time while viewing pictures and portraits of America’s favorite past-time.
The exhibit narrates the story of the start of 19th century football through to the modern-day game. A tribute to the greats, it embodies what the Pro Football Hall of Fame is all about.
Where to Find It
The exhibit has spent the last few months in Arizona, coinciding with the NFL’s Pro Bowl and Super Bowl events, which took place in the Phoenix area. The Gridiron Glory exhibit is still currently being housed in the Arizona Science Center.
Each city and venue the exhibit travels to highlights the local history of football in the host city, as well. It spotlights local teams within the area with hometown-specific tributes in addition to the hall of fame and historical tributes.
The exhibit also features sports science to educate and fascinate sports fans on the magic of the game. There are typically educational programs on site to totally immerse fans and visitors in all things hall of fame. Gridiron Glory also shows exclusive never before seen NFL film clips on big screens within the exhibit.
Over the next several years, the exhibit will continue to be hosted by some of the nation’s top educational and sports venues in three to six month increments.
