The 2015 MotoGP™ season is quickly approaching and fans have a lot to look forward to. Between the reshuffled teams, new bikes and rising stars, the 2015 season is set to be a season no one will forget!
1. The Marquez Brothers
Marc and Alex Marquez have taken over in the world of moto racing after both dominating their divisions.
Marc became a legend this past season when he beat MotoGP™ legend Mick Doohan’s record of 12 wins in one season and won the championship for the second consecutive time. Who knows what the older Marquez will accomplish next?
After winning the Moto3 crown, Alex will move up to the Moto2 class for the 2015 season. If Alex can pull off another winning season, we may see an all-Marquez team in MotoGP™ in the near future.
2. The Rise of Rossi
Valentino Rossi is a MotoGP™ veteran and a nine-time world champion. Recently, however, he has been overshadowed by the successes of Honda’s much younger Marquez.
Rossi is determined to add this season to his collection of winning seasons, though. Finishing number one during Sepang’s testing days, in front of Honda-Repsol’s Dani Pedrosa, the Italian rider appears confident and determined to start the 2015 MotoGP™ season off right.
3. The New Bikes
Teams have been debuting their new 2015 season bikes.
CWM LCR Honda riders Cal Crutchlow and Jack Miller recently revealed their stylish 2015 bikes in London. Crutchlow, who was a part of the Ducati team last year, will ride a RCV213V Factory Specification during this year’s circuit. Meanwhile MotoGP™ newcomer, Jack Miller, will be on a RC213V-RS Open Specification.
Miller, who was known to occasionally pop a wheelie or two in Moto3, is excited to start riding on the new CRM LCR Honda bikes. Anxious to get the season started, the former Moto3 rider is ready to display his tricks on the new, flashy bikes.
Similarly, Ducati just revealed its new bike for the upcoming season. The more compact motorcycle will feature different aerodynamics, including a new air intake and a ‘seamless’ gearbox.
4. New Car Added to Safety Fleet
Set to officially debut in Geneva next month, the BMW M4 Coupe, along with the BMW M3 and BMW M6 Gran Coupe will be the official safety cars for the 2015 MotoGP™ season. Similar to the bikes, the cars will be high-performance oriented.
With a special water injection feature to keep upping the engine’s performance, the car is sure to create more possibilities for production models of the BMW in the future.
5. New Teams
There has been a reshuffling of MotoGP™ teams with the exception of Repsol Honda and Movistar Yamaha.
Andrea Iannone has decided to join fellow Italian Andrea Dovizioso in the Ducati factory team. Suzuki will return with Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales alongside Yamaha’s former factory team manager, Davide Brivio.
The newly branded CWM-LCR Honda signed Cal Crutchlow and last year’s Moto3 rider, Jack Miller.
6. The Intense Competition
With all of the incredible riders, beautiful circuits and the 18-race, nine-month long calendar season, the 2015 MotoGP™ season is sure to be filled with unbelievable competition and thrills!
