It’s almost college football season! Thank goodness, right? I’ve been anticipating the start of the season since it ended, mainly because the college football matchups each year never disappoint.  I could go on and on about all the games I am excited to see, but for your sake, I’ve narrowed it down to four. Take a look below at four college football games you need to watch in 2016.

1- Clemson at Florida State

October 29

Reasons to Watch

This ACC matchup has turned into one of the best college football annual games. It may not be the best rivalry, but the results of this game could definitely have national championship implications in 2016 – in other words, it could determine who gets a bid to the College Football Playoff.

Both Clemson and Florida State have landed in the Top 15 for five years straight; Florida State won the BCS title in 2013 and landed in the College Football Playoff in 2014 while Clemson landed in the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2015. The talent between the two teams is sensational.

Players to Watch

Florida State

Deshaun Watson (Quarterback)

Artavis Scott (Wide Receiver)

Wayne Gallman (Running Back)

Cordrea Tankersley (Cornerback)

Dalvin Cook (Running Back)

Derwin James (Safety)

DeMarcus Walker (Defensive End)

Roderick Johnson (Offensive Tackle)

2- Alabama at LSU

November 5

Reasons to Watch

The SEC West is one heck of a college football division to begin with, so naturally, almost any game between those teams will be a good one. However, nothing can quite beat the annual Alabama/LSU game. They know each other well, and quite frankly, don’t like each other…at all. This makes the game that much more fun.

It’s a meaningful game and has become a bit of a rivalry game over the past few years, mainly because LSU’s program has become so good. Leonard Fournette will be looking for revenge after being held to 31 yards last year. And Alabama? Well, they’ll just be looking to steam roll over LSU for the sixth year in a row.

Players to Watch

Jonathan Allen (Defensive End)

Calvin Ridley (Wide Receiver)

Cam Robinson (Offensive Tackle)

Bo Scarborough (Running Back)

O.J. Howard (Tight End)

Leonard Fournette (Running Back)

Jamal Adams (Safety)

Kendell Beckwith (Linebacker)

Malachi Dupre (Wide Receiver)

Tre’Davious White (Safety/Cornerback)

3- Michigan at Ohio State

November 26

Reasons to Watch

It’s not called “The Game” for no reason. This rivalry dates back to 1897, and ever since, it has been a complete blood battle. These two teams are likely going to be the favorite in the Big Ten East, and the winner could land a spot in the College Football Playoff. The intensity of the rivalry and playoff implications make this one game you don’t want to miss. Plus, you can’t help but enjoy the coaching war between Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer.

Michigan currently holds the lead with 58 wins compared to Ohio State’s 46 wins. However, Michigan hasn’t won against Ohio State since 2011. Can the Wolverines break the streak and win this heated rivalry? Michigan is expected to be better than ever and Ohio State is in the rebuilding phase, so this could be Michigan’s year after all.

Players to Watch

Ohio State

Jabrill Peppers (Safety)

Jourdan Lewis (Cornerback)

Jake Butt (Tight End)

Chris Wormley (Defensive End)

J.T. Barrett (Quarterback)

Raekwon McMillan (Linebacker)

Tyquan Lewis (Defensive End)

Pat Elflien (Center/Offensive Guard)

4- Stanford at Notre Dame

October 15

Reasons to Watch

The Legends Trophy is up for grabs once again and seems to be swapping hands between Notre Dame and Stanford every other year for the past few years. These two premier programs always bring a high-level of intensity to the field, and their recent games have really come down to the wire.

Each of their last four games was decided by a touchdown or less, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case again this year. The rivalry may not have as much history as others, but the level of competitiveness between the two teams makes this one game worth watching.

Players to Watch

Notre Dame

Christian McCaffrey (Running Back)

Solomon Thomas (Defensive End)

Michael Rector (Wide Receiver)

Peter Kalambayi (Linebacker)

DeShone Kizer (Quarterback)

Tarean Folston (Running Back)

Nyles Morgan (Linebacker)

Aliz’e Jones (Tight End)
