After a 99-year absence, motorcycle racing returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2008, with the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix featuring the MotoGP™ World Championship, the premier level of motorcycle road racing on Earth.

The Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend is jam-packed with activities and events. For three days, starting on August 8, 2014, all three classes of the MotoGP™ World Championship will practice, qualify and race. If that doesn’t sell you on the experience that awaits you, here are the top nine reasons to attend MotoGP at Indy!

1. Speed

The larger, more powerful 1000cc MotoGP™ bikes could reach 210 mph on the front straightaway this year at Indy. Think about that: Faster than a NASCAR Sprint Cup car and almost as fast as an IZOD IndyCar Series car – on a machine with no seat belt or roll cage!

2. The HUGE Track

Churchill Downs, Yankee Stadium, the Rose Bowl, the Roman Coliseum and Vatican City all can fit inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, which covers 253 acres. It is the world’s largest spectator sporting facility, with more than 250,000 seats! If the seat boards from the grandstands at IMS were laid end-to-end, they would stretch 99.5 miles.

3. MotoGP VIP Village™

This is the place to be! When we say we are jumping up and down about the MotoGP VIP Village™ we aren’t kidding! The Paddock Club includes a private grandstand, complimentary cocktail and coffee bar, live race coverage, comfortable seating, breakfast buffet, afternoon petit fours, tapas bar, gourmet, we could go on all day!

Regardless, this is an experience unlike any other that YOU could be apart of with your Official Ticket Package. Now, aren’t you jumping up and down too? Click here for more information! MotoGP VIP Village™>>

4. Pit Walkabout

Fans can get an up-close look at the fascinating world of MotoGP™ during the Pit Walkabout at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. The pit lane at IMS will be open, giving fans a fantastic look at the exotic prototype machinery of MotoGP™ as mechanics prepare the bikes for race day.

5. Moto Midway

The Moto Midway was the center of off-track action during the 2013 Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend. Located on the inside of Turn 10, off of 7th Street in the IMS infield, this exciting new display featured many concerts and events all weekend long!

INDY_motoGP_3The 2013 Moto Midway featured concerts from the many exciting artists below: 3LAU, Space Capone, Recoil, PictureYes, Guns 4 Roses, The Features, Jasmine Cain, Brent James & the Vintage Youth, Street Spirits, Slater Hogan, and DJ Orion!

Also featured inside the 2013 IMS Moto Midway was a Jagermeister Stage, Bar and Dome with Lounge, MotoGP Rider Chats, the Riders For Health Charity Auction, a Zip Line, Motorcycle Stunting, iWheelie, Vendor Displays from Yamaha, Honda and Ducati, as well as many other vendors and much more.

6. The Paddock and the Indy Paddock Girls

The MotoGP Paddock is an exclusive area for MotoGP riders, teams, sponsors, VIPs and now access is available to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP’s biggest fans! Here you will find the hottest of the hot and the forever famous Red Bull Indianapolis GP Paddock Girls! Don’t believe us? Take a sneak peak thanks to the  Indianapolis Motor Speedwayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWx5uBW0mDE

7. Vendor Marketplace

Top motorcycle aftermarket equipment and apparel companies will display and sell their latest products in Gasoline Alley at IMS. It’s gear heaven for riders and enthusiasts.

8. Motorcycles on Meridian

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway introduced the inaugural Motorcycles on Meridian in 2008, for people with and without bikes. Monument Circle and South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis will be a flurry of engine roars and leather as motorcyclists gather downtown Aug 8-9 to celebrate the Red Bull Indianapolis GP.

9. The History Made Here

From 2009-2011, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway celebrated 100 years of worldwide leadership in motorsports entertainment through its Centennial Era event. IMS honored the 100th anniversaries of the opening of the historical racetrack in 1909, and of the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

No other motorsports facility in the world has the rich history and tradition of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway," IMS Chairman of the Board Mari Hulman George said, according to http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/. "The Centennial Era celebration pays homage to the heroes and events of our storied past while anticipating an even more glorious future.
