This year’s 8th Annual Las Vegas Auction by Barrett-Jackson may be the biggest ever. “We’re going full-throttle as we prepare for our 8th annual Las Vegas auction at Mandalay Bay,” according to Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Our docket is filling up with many spectacular vehicles and we’re excited to showcase our event with 24 hours of live coverage on Discovery and Velocity across the three days.”
And not just any spectacular vehicles! This month Barrett-Jackson announced, to the delight of gearheads everywhere, that a 1965 Chevrolet Nova SS “Dobbertin’s” Custom has been consigned for the 8th Annual Las Vegas Auction.
Constructed in 3,000 hours over the course of three years by legendary builder Rick Dobbertin, the vehicle is one of the most significant and important custom cars to have ever been built. With the exception of the front wheels, this mean machine is 100% original to the day it was built and boasts impressive features; a BDS 6-71 supercharger, an 8-port nitrous oxide system, a 454cid LS7 V8, Holley 750cfm carbs, twin radiators, B&M Comp Turbo 400, DANA 60 rear end, JFZ rear brakes, full roll cage and Deist Flame Out fire suppression system… in case things get too hot.
The motor legend will be lined up along a host of other mechanical beauties including:
- 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo. One of only 806, the metallic-silver roadster only holds 38,465 miles. (That’s less than 1,070 miles a year!)
- 1974 Pontiac Firebird TransAm 455 Super Duty. Of the 943 produced, only one in five were equipped with the Pontiac 455 Super Duty engine and 4-speed transmission, and this is one of them.
These are just a few of the hundreds of one-of-a-kind vehicles that will be gracing Mandalay Bay from September 24 – 26. Whether you’re shopping for a classic, looking for something sleek and modern, or just want to bask in the art of the automobile, Barrett-Jackson President Steve Davis assures, “The breadth of our docket this year includes something for first-time bidders, as well as seasoned collectors. I’m confident this year’s Las Vegas auction will be a highlight in the collector car hobby.”
