Let’s Recap

NFL International Game 8 was a match-up of big scores and big performances for the 49ers as they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 42-10. If you’ve watched any of San Francisco’s recent games, you already know they’ve been on a hot streak. The team made the trip across the ocean with a 5-2 record, winning their last five games. This match-up proved to be no different as the 49ers secured their sixth straight victory of the season, scoring at least 31 points in each game.

For Jacksonville, their international loss continued a losing streak that began at the end of last season. The Jaguars now hold a 0-8 record for this season and have lost 13 games in a row, if you include their final matches from last season.

San Francisco brought the heat from the very beginning, scoring on their first four possessions at Wembley Stadium. The 49ers opened the game with a quick 28-0 lead, as quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, scored two touchdowns early. He then hit Vernon Davis with a 2-yard touchdown pass.

Frank Gore continued to set the pace for San Francisco as he scored off a 19-yard run following the opening kickoff.

It wasn’t until Josh Scobee’s field goal at the end of the first half that Jacksonville added any points to the board.

The Jaguars made more of a presence in the second half as they came out with two long drives, but they failed to score on both. In the third quarter, Jacksonville managed to score off of a fumble by Gore. Russell Allen recovered the ball and quarterback, Chad Henne, threw the touchdown pass to Mike Brown.

San Francisco answered with touchdowns by Gore and Dan Skuta.

Kaepernick completed the game with 164-yards and a touchdown, and rushing for 54-yards and two touchdowns. Gore rushed 71-yards and scored two touchdowns as well.

Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew had a 30-yard run, his longest of the season, to complete 75-yards.

Moving Forward

The 49ers and the Jaguars both return to their hometowns for a bye week to regroup from London.

San Francisco will return to the field to host the Carolina Panthers on November 10, with the hopes of continuing their winning streak. Jacksonville will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans on November 10, with the hopes of turning their record around.
