34 days left! It may sound like a big number but NBA fans know that the 2014 NBA All-Star Game will be here before can say “And the NBA All-Star Game 2014 MVP is…”
So with just over a month to go we wanted to check in and take a tally of who we believe the top NBA All-Stars are… so far (and what the votes say)!
How the NBA All-Stars Voting Stands (as of 12/18/13)
Here’s what the standings look like according to the most recent ballot returns by the NBA:
If the NBA All-Star game were played tomorrow these are what your East and West teams would look like. The question is: is it just votes that make you an NBA All-Star? Some fans argue yes, others think it’s a bit more. This list holds 40 players, so what about the other 80 who were nominated?
So, what does it all mean?? The players on this list whose names are bolded are already on the All-Star ballot. Not to worry, the ones who aren’t bolded can still be voted for as write-ins. However, from the charts above you may have noticed that some all-stars aren’t statistical leaders, and some statistical leaders aren’t all stars!
Also, some players who have been hurt for an extended period of time, or players who have recently been designated as out for the rest of the season due to injury, are high vote getters on the ballot.
It wouldn’t be the first time an NBA All-Star starter isn’t able to actually play in the game, but with injuries there’s the potential for some very interesting starting line ups!
