Congratulations you’re Super Bowl XLVIII bound! Will you be rooting for the Denver Broncos or the Seattle Seahawks? Will you make time to go check out some NYC must see’s or insider spots? Will you eat hot dogs at Gray’s Papaya from 14th and 1st? These are all questions that definitely need answers but first thing’s first..
What do you pack?
For a full breakdown of Super Bowl 2014 fashion and ideas for weather-appropriate outfits visit our blog on Super Bowl fashion, but clothing aside what else does one need to bring to NYC and New Jersey in order to have the best possible experience?
As always, we have a checklist for exactly such a packing list. Presenting: your checklist on What to Bring to 2014 Super bowl.
1. A Parka
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this strange word (you’re obviously from a warm climate state), a parka is another word for a big jacket! While the possibility for snow is at 30% (as of today) it’s still predicted to be a brisk 36 degrees on February 2, 2014. So you’ll want a big coat to protect you from the elements and accommodate all of the layers you’ll be wearing!
2. Comfortable Shoes
If you live in the tri-state you already know that comfortable shoes are a must. For fans visiting NYC for the first time you’ll notice that people walk EVERYWHERE. Make sure to bring a pair of comfortable walking shoes, or boots, to combat the cold and provide comfort.
3. A MetroCard
With the influx of people expected in the city and New Jersey you can bet it won’t be easy to catch a cab! So one of the first things you may want to do is get your card so that you can arrive at your designated transportation areas to get to the big game.
For those of you who will be boarding a subway for the first time—get a MetroCard. Individual fares are $2.50 and an additional $1.00 if you choose to buy a card (reloadable), or you can purchase a single ride ticket for $2.75 (not reloadable), OR you can purchase a $30 7-day unlimited card so you don’t have to worry about reloading.
4. A Smartphone with a Sweet Camera (Or just a Sweet Camera)
NYC is beautiful and full of wonders and they don’t call New Jersey the Garden State for nothing! Both of these states boasts tons of natural landscapes, beautiful architecture, attractions and of course the 2014 Super Bowl, where you’ll want to take tons of pictures!
5. A Clear Bag
The NFL is strongly encouraging fans not to bring any type of bag to the game, but if necessary bring a clear bag. NFL regulations say that a 12”’ x 6” x 12” clear, plastic, vinyl or PVC bag will be permissible. Additionally small clutch bags with or without straps can be taken into the stadium (sized 4.5” x 6.5”).
The NFL will be providing warm welcome bags for all attendees that will include:
- A seat cushion
- Hand warmers
- A wool cap
- An in-house radio to listen to the broadcast
So save the room in your bag or clutch to pack other essentials such as your ticket, credentials to get into parties or exclusive areas, phone, extra cash or credit cards, identification, and other essentials. Trust us, at the big game you’re going to want your hands free so that you can cheer for your team!
