We have a game! Last night, the NBA announced the 14 players that would join the other 10 starters at the 63rd NBA All-Star Game. Now fans can get a clear picture of who exactly will be competing on February 16th in New Orleans.
This year’s reserves included some perennial All-Stars as well as some players who received their very first NBA All-Star Game spot!
For those of you unfamiliar with how player selection goes, the fans determine the five starters in each conference by vote. The remaining seven players on each squad are chosen by the 30 head coaches from each of the league’s team.
So let’s get to the meat and potatoes. Who’s on the team?! Without further ado here is the full roster for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game!
Voted to starting positions by fans the Eastern Conference starting lineup is:
- LeBron James, MIA
- Paul George, IND
- Carmelo Anthony, NYK
- Dwyane Wade, MIA
- Kyrie Irving, CLE
Voted in by the 30 head coaches the reserves are:
- Chris Bosh, MIA
- DeMar DeRozan, TOR
- Roy Hibbert, IND
- Joe Johnson, BKN
- Paul Millsap, ATL
- Joakim Noah, CHI
- John Wall, WAS
DeRozan, Millsap and Wall will all be participating in their first ever NBA All-Star game, while Bosh will be returning for his 9th game and Johnson will making his 7th All-Star appearance. The Miami Heat has three players on this year’s All-Star team, the most in the NBA.
Voted to start by fans for the West, the starting line is:
- Kevin Durant, OKC
- Stephen Curry, GS
- Kobe Bryant, LAL
- Blake Griffin, LAC
- Kevin Love, MIN
Joining them, the Western Conference reserves are:
- Dirk Nowitzki, DAL
- LaMarcus Aldridge, POR
- James Harden, HOU
- Dwight Howard, HOU
- Tony Parker, SAS
- Chris Paul, LAC
- Damian Lillard, POR
The reserves in the west include first time All-Star Lillard. Perennial All-Stars include Nowitzki who earned his 12th NBA All-Star spot, Howard who earned his 8th and Paul who earned his 7th. The Rockets, Clippers and the Trail Blazers each have two players on the All-Star team.
