UFC: Fastest Knockouts Ever

    By Niala Samnarine

It’s always amazing watching an MMA match during a UFC® event and seeing two fighters go the distance. Whether it’s the full three rounds (in non-main event fights) or a five round battle, decisions can be some of the most entertaining fights of all.

But what about those that don’t even get out of the first round or first minute for that matter?! In some cases, these fighters don’t even see the 10th second notch off the clock before it’s lights out! To continue our series, today we’re looking at the fastest knockouts EVER recorded in UFC® history!

    12 Seconds

Johny Hendricks 130419 LeftFullBodyImageJohny Hendricks vs Jon Fitch

The current UFC middleweight champion showed that he could go the distance at UFC® 171 against Robbie Lawler, and in 2011, he proved that he had hands of steels as he put Jon Fitch to bed with hard left at UFC® 141.

    Rob Emerson vs Manvel Gamburyan

At UFC® 87 it took “The Saint” Emerson all of 12 seconds to dispense of “The Anvil” Gamburyan. Both men came out swinging, but it was Emerson who was able to connect then swarm Gamburyan for this lightning fast KO!

    11 seconds

    BJ Penn vs Caol Uno

Penn left Uno dazed on the cage! Uno flew into action with a flying knee, then Penn unloaded a fight-ending combination on Uno at UFC® 34.

    10 seconds

    Mark Weir vs Eugene Jackson

At UFC® 38 "The Wizard" used a magical right to end Jackson’s night. Weir comes out firing with a missed high leg kick, but connects with Jackson’s chin immediately after to get one of the fastest UFC® knockouts ever.

    Nine seconds

Gray MaynardGray Maynard vs Joe Veres

What was supposed to be a three round fight at UFC Fight Night 11 turned into a quick nine second win for "The Bully" Maynard. Fighting "Mighty Joe" Veres, who came in with the exact same reach, Maynard’s very first punch (left hook) landed right on the jaw of Veres to make it a quick night for both men.

    James Irvin vs Houston Alexander

Irvin came into UFC Fight Night 13 to make a statement and get a career defining win. Against "The Assassin" it was not going to be an easy feat, as Alexander had proven himself in the Octagon. With one punch, Irvin knocked Alexander’s lights out.

    Eight seconds

    Don Frye vs Thomas Ramirez

At one of the earliest UFC fights, UFC 8, it was a battle of David vs Goliath, and the significantly smaller Frye was able to secure the victory via KO in eight seconds over Ramirez.

    Seven seconds

    Ryan Jimmo vs Anthony Perosh

Using a giant right hand, Jimmo put Perosh to sleep at UFC®149 in seven seconds. We’re not sure what was more impressive, the KO or the after fight celebration dance!

Chan Sung Jung vs Mark Hominick

Just about six months before Jimmo and Perosh’s fight at 149, Jung delivered a heavy right to Hominick at UFC® 140 to secure the win. This fight also lasted seven seconds.

    Todd Duffee vs Tim Hague

These heavyweights entered the Octagon™ at UFC® 102 with victory on their minds. Duffee dominated Hague with a stiff jab that ended Hague’s night in just seven seconds.

    Six Seconds

    Duane Ludwig vs Jonathan Goulet

Depending on what list you read this epic fight may register as an 11 second KO. On my list it goes down as the fastest knockout in UFC history. At the time of the match the clock was read as 11 seconds after Ludwig served up a loss to Goulet. However, after reviewing the match, the time should have been stopped at six seconds.

    RondaRousey HeadshotBeltHonorable Mention

Ronda Rousey UFC® 170. While this match lasted considerably longer than the knockouts that made our list, the women’s bantamweight champ was able to continue her undefeated streak with a the fastest KO in women’s history at 66 seconds against opponent and Olympic wrestler, Sara McMann.
