Before you know it the calendar will read “August” and the 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival will be kicking-off, culminating with the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday. The 2014 NFL preseason will begin with the New York Giants taking on the Buffalo Bills at historic Fawcett Stadium.

And while football fans are excited for the NFL season opener/Hall of Fame Game for a variety of reasons, the players and the Class of 2014 hold their own reasons to anticipate the match.

For NFL newcomers, Sammy Watkins and Odell Beckham Jr., this game is their launch into the big boy league of the NFL and their chance to meet the idols of their new teams. As for the Class of 2014, Andre Reed and Michael Strahan, they get to see their teams compete the day after they are announced as Hall of Famers!

The 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival will be a big weekend!

Fourth overall NFL Draft pick, Watkins of the Buffalo Bills is thrilled about his opportunity to play his first game in honor of the Bills new Hall of Famer, Reed, who is Buffalo’s all-time leading receiver.

“I’m definitely excited for the opportunity to experience my pro debut at the Hall of Fame Game. It was one of the first things I noticed when I looked at the schedule after being drafted by the Bills,” Watkins shared. “Growing up a Bills fan, the chance to play in Canton on the same weekend that Andre Reed gets inducted into the Hall will be surreal.”

Beckham, 12th overall pick shared similar enthusiasms to Watkins regarding the honor of competing in the Hall of Fame Game to honor Strahan, the Giants all-time sack leader.

“When I learned that I’ll be making my NFL debut at the Hall of Fame Game, my initial reaction was ‘Wow’. It’s the first game since the Super Bowl, so I’m sure everyone will be tuning in to get their football fix,” said Beckham. “It will also be an important first step for me, as I get my first experience playing against NFL players. I’m using the off-season program to learn what it takes to be a pro. The Hall of Fame Game is going to teach me what it’s like to play like one.”
