That’s right, we’ve got the secret on how to and how not to win at COTA. This past weekend, Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas has completed hosting the second round of the 2014 MotoGP™ season.
Marc Marquez, reigning world champion, won his second straight victory at the COTA track on Sunday and it’s safe to say he isn’t in need of any dos and don’ts of winning at COTA. With 118,918 members, guests, participants and Repsol Honda being the team to beat, the weekend was monumental and the racing was fearless.
Let’s Take a Look
In 2013, teammates Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa scored a 1-2 finish for the team at COTA and they did it again this past weekend; However some of the other riders haven’t been as fortunate. Let’s take a look at the dos and don’ts of winning at the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas.
YIKES! Clearly, that is not what you want to do. Four weeks ago, Marquez made his debut in Qatar from his pre-season injury, where he showed he was back for business. Not to mention he did the same at this 2014 race at COTA and at last year’s race. According to MotoGP.com, Marquez says,
“This track is one of my favorite tracks. I had a good race here last year where I have good memories of taking my first win in the MotoGP class. We’ll have to wait and see the situation with the new rules for this year, but anyway we will be focused on our work.”
“Thankfully the majority of hard turns are left handers at this track which is easier on my leg as I’m still not 100 percent fit.”
Winning at COTA this past Sunday didn’t come easy, along with the win at Qatar and COTA last year. In Qatar for the first race, Marquez had to fend off nine-time champion Valentino Rossi and had to squeeze by his teammate Pedrosa for the victory in Austin last year. For MotoGP spectators, overtaking and passing opportunities is something that COTA offers plenty of, take a look!
Now that IS something you want to do at Circuit of The Americas, and who else but to show you than THE Marc Marquez. Not only did he do all the right things last year at COTA, but he came and did it again this year! Which makes you wonder if he will be able to win for a third time in 2015? There is only one way to find out if this young Spaniard will make history, and that’s to be there!
