The Ciudad del Motor de Aragón, also known as Motorland Aragon, is a stylish, upscale, state of the art circuit located near Alcañiz, Spain, and on Sept. 28, 2014, MotoGP™ will be shredding up the pavement!
MotorLand Aragon had its roots firmly established thanks to a solid history of street racing in Alcañiz, which hosted events between 1963 and 2003. However, racing on the streets became extremely dangerous for the town; this led to the proposal and construction of a sporting complex solely for motorsports.

Renowned German architect Hermann Tilke was commissioned to design the facility thanks to local institutions for pitching in. The facility was designed to incorporate three main zones – a technology pack, a sports area, and a leisure and culture area. Now you understand why this place is ultra-modern!
The circuit, which has 17 turns, was roundly praised by riders after its first grand prix in 2010, and it was rewarded with the IRTA Best Grand Prix of the Year award. This was the first time a circuit had received the prize in its debut year.
Mach. 18, 2010, Motorland Aragon was announced as a replacement for the Balatonring on the 2010 MotoGP calendar.
“Aragón was already in place as a reserve event and replaces the Hungarian race which was postponed because of overrunning construction work. This made the Aragon motorcycle Grand Prix the fourth Spanish race on the calendar.” Source>>
Fun Fact: In March of 2011, Dorna Sports signed a contract with the circuit to make it a permanent entry on the main calendar until at least 2016.
