The 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show gave us dazzling displays and exciting reveals for days on end and left us wanting even more in 2016. Sure, it may still be nine months away, but we’re already looking ahead to the 2016 edition of the world’s largest in-water boat show later this year!
When Is the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show?
Here’s your answer: November 3rd – 7th, 2016. Go ahead and mark your calendar.
This will be the 57th adaptation of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which takes place in a city that’s widely held as the “Yachting Capital of the World.” The event happens over the course of five days, six locations, and over 3 million square feet of space! Fortunately, guests don’t have to traverse all 3 million square feet on foot – they benefit from Fort Lauderdale’s existing transport system, which features an impressive combination of water taxis, bus shuttles, and riverboats, making it simple and easy to get from one place to another.
What to Expect
Last year, the show included exhibits from yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts as well as a wide variety of boats and sea vessels! Runabouts, sportfishers, high performance boats, center consoles, cabin cruisers, flats boats, skiffs, express cruisers, sailing yachts, motor yachts, bowriders, catamarans, ski boats, jet boats, trawlers, inflatables, canoes, extraordinary superyachts…they were all on display.
This year’s offerings will be similar in type, but newer, sleeker, and even classier. Over 1,400 exhibitors will converge with their showcase events and displays while the Convention Center is transformed into a marine playground.
The Reveals & Debuts
What’s the most unique and dazzling part of the Boat Show? The boat debuts that are made there, bar none! The 2016 Boat Show will be your chance to catch the first glimpse of the newest designs and products from top-of-the-line boat manufacturers as they’re rolled out.
One such reveal in 2015 was the Bertram 35, recently named by the New York Post as one of the best items to spend Powerball winnings on. The vessel will be produced by Bertram Yachts, a historic brand that is more than half a century old and under new ownership that seeks to return the company to its American roots. Renderings were unveiled at last year’s Boat Show amid an atmosphere of enthusiasm, excitement, and plenty of handshakes!
Described as a “35-foot Bertram 31” by Bertram’s head of product development, Tommy Thompson, the new design focuses on adhering to the high standards set for modern Bertram products while calling back to the shape and style of the original Bertram 31. The 35 will be American-made and its first prototype is slated to launch this summer.
