    About the NBA All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star Game, hosted annually by the NBA, is an exhibition game featuring the league’s best players from the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Twelve players – five starters and seven reserves – are selected from each conference. The starting lineup for each team is selected by fans, NBA players and NBA media. The reserves are selected by NBA head coaches. The NBA All-Star Game began in 1951 at Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the years, the East has dominated the West 37-28.

    NBA All-Star Voting

For the first time ever, NBA players and media will join fans in choosing the starters for the NBA All-Star Game. Fans will account for 50% of the vote. Current players and a panel of basketball media will account for 25 percent each.

Players and media can only complete one full ballot. NBA fans may submit one full ballot each day through NBA.com, the NBA App, Twitter, Facebook and Google Search.

Voting began Sunday, December 25, 2016 and ends Monday, January 16, 2017. Here is how to vote for your NBA All-Star Starters.

    Travel Tips

    • Book your plane tickets soon – you’ll want to fly into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. It’s located roughly 15 miles east of downtown New Orleans.
    • Try the local cuisine – you’ll find plenty of places with Creole and Cajun specialties.
    • Pack for the weather – winter in New Orleans is relatively mild. Last year, temperatures in the middle of February reached a high of about 75°F and a low of about 45°F. The evenings can get chilly so bring a jacket.
    • Plan to visit the French Quarter.
    • Bring your walking shoes.
    • Bring casual attire for the day and casual-dressy attire for the evenings – some restaurants in the French Quarter require men to wear a jacket and tie.
    • To get around the city, travel by streetcar or bus – if you decide to drive within the city, keep in mind that parking in the French Quarter is tight.
